Pua Suite Consortium
Pua Suite is a 5 movement symphonic work for wind ensemble. 'Pua', meaning 'flower' in Hawaiian, is used as a subject in everyday life. This work will encompass the different forms that flowers take in Hawaiian culture, spanning from loved ones to island creation.

Focusing on the island's famous town of Hanalei, the second movement encompasses the geographical beauty that makes Hanalei unique. Using beloved songs, Pua ʻOlena and Sweet Lei Mokihana, the music guides us from the "misty summer rain" to the breathtaking mountains in Hanalei Valley.

Kani Ka Pila! Today, the contemporary group of Hawaiian musicians engage in kani ka pila. Drawing from the energetic song, Pua Kukui, the final movement brings everyone together in the style of joyous music making.
